Whidbey Island Ice Cream, founded in 2005 by Mike and Mary Rudd, was an ice cream dream come true! Their ice cream was hard to resist, as was the company: Ron and Florence Hecker acquired ownership in 2009 and have been cranking the ice cream freezers ever since! Having been successful in other ventures, it was no surprise that they quickly became ice cream connoisseurs.
Whidbey Island Ice Cream is (of course!) on the wonderful island of Whidbey, smack in the middle of the Puget Sound. It’s a wonderful place to live! Everything works on ‘island time’, where the pace of life is just a bit slower (particularly the traffic!), and the islanders prefer it that way. We support island business with a passion and the islanders have certainly been good to us, in return.
Our ice cream is sold in most stores on the island and we’re quickly learning that we’re surrounded by wonderful, ice cream loving people! Our philosophy began with the founders, Mike an Mary, and is just as important today as it was the day they first opened the doors: produce a high quality, great tasting product while still providing exceptional service. Those are good words to live by, work by, and make the best tasting ice cream you’ve ever enjoyed by!
